This morning, a huge fire broke out at Kenya's Gikomba market where firefighters tried to contain the blaze at the popular second-hand market.  

Local media reports that the fire started early on Friday morning and immediately, city authorities appealed to private operators of fire engines to assist in putting out the fire.

Gikomba is a popular second-hand clothes market but is also renowned as the centre of the capital's informal economy, attracting a diverse number of traders. Following the fire, one trader said he had lost 250 bales of clothing, worth an estimated 23,000 (£17,600). 

A Kenyan radio station is however reporting that a government minister has said that the fire could be as a result of arson.

This pastor pastor arrested in Calabar for allegedly killing 18 months old baby for ritual

The General Overseer of Royal God’s Commandment Ministry aka “Obot Uboho” (Mount of Deliverance) located at Okon Edak street off Atamunu, Calabar South Local Government Area, was last Friday arrested by the police for allegedly killing an 18 months old baby boy for ritual. The pastor, a father of four had contracted a young man in the neighbourhood to supply him a child for a spiritual assignment for a fee. "One of the drug addicts who patronises one of the major drug den at Atamunu was contracted by the pastor to conduct the kidnap exercise so he can be paid for his normal dose of cocaine." reports Calabar Reporters. Man Burnt To Death For Stealing Amplifier From Mosque

A 30-year-old man was set ablaze in a mosque for stealing an amplifier. The head of the local police’s criminal investigations, Rizal Marito, said the man was chased by an angry mob from a mosque in Bekasi district near the Indonesian capital before they later set him ablaze. “The mosque’s caretaker shouted ‘Thief!’ and people chased him,” he said. The man was caught about two kilometers from the mosque and beaten, with some people in the crowd pouring petrol on the man and setting him ablaze. He died on the spot from injuries and severe burns. Marito denied local media reports that the man was a technician who was taking out the amplifier for repair. According to the police, the victim’s family will not press charges.
